Fisher Architecture is crossing the finish line on a full architectural and interior redesign of the Fenwick Inn at 13801 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland. Blue Water Development owner, Jack Burbage, hired Fisher to design new floor to ceiling finishes to common spaces, guest floors and employee areas and convert the 8th floor of the hotel from a rooftop restaurant into ten suites with full kitchens and dining areas and the addition of large outdoor terraces on two of the units. The staff areas needed reorganization to assist with day to day flow which included relocating management offices, adding an employee break room and private circulation for employees to enter and exit the building. The existing façade included wall to wall windows which gave visitors an expansive view of the city. Recent upgrades kept this appealing feature in mind but also implemented energy efficient upgrades to the facades including bands of EIFS and siding. These material enhancements along with an additional tower on the south end and metal awnings were intended to attract new customers to the fresh, airy feel of the hotel. The team came up with a contemporary, coastal scheme for the hotel with bold blues and fun and playful pops of pattern and color to accent specific areas.

We coordinated an enhancement of the spaces on the ground level to help with better flow of the hotels’ amenities, this allowed for the expansion of the breakfast area, relocation of the fitness center, the addition of an arcade room and the expansion of the in door pool to include a splash zone.

You never know going into a project how involved the client will be with selecting finishes and details but Jack is very passionate about every aspect of his projects so he had a lot of input on the materials, patterns and colors.

We value the ongoing partnership we have with Jack and Blue Water Development, we were pleased to have the opportunity to work on both the architectural and interior design for this project because it provides for a cohesive style throughout the interior and exterior of the building.
