In March, plans were approved to renovate Berlin’s Main Street storefronts. Through careful collaboration with Samantha Pielstick of BWDC, our project team developed documents to coordinate the delicate balance between maintaining the historical character of the facade while also implementing important features such as energy compliance, durability, and securing the building envelope. The Main Street facade renovation is just one key piece to this much larger project. The renovation of commercial tenant space below and the addition of apartments above have allowed the team to eloquently bring this important part of Main Street back to life. What was once clad with red metal paneling, will receive a refresh taking it back to its historic character of wood paneling, storefront, and brick. The existing awnings have already been removed and will soon be replaced with metal awnings that mimic that of downtown Berlin. Stay tuned to see the final results of this remarkable renovation.
